Science Rising is a nationwide mobilization effort taking place throughout 2018 in the run-up to the midterm elections. It is not a one-day march—it is a series of local activities, events, and actions organized by many different groups.

Our shared goal is to ensure that science is front-and-center in the decision-making processes that affect us all—and to fight back against efforts that sideline science from its crucial role in our democracy.

This month at Wonder & Skepticism, a monthly science outreach event at the Empty Bottle, we present "What's my age again?" We will hear from two presenters: Bridget McGann and Sylvia Ortega-Martinez. Bridget will talk about her research on the science of parenting and how it impacts development and Sylvia will discuss her research on neurogenesis and Alzheimer's. Through this lens of development and degeneration, we hope to gain some insights into how our brains mature and age.
