Science Rising is a nationwide mobilization effort taking place throughout 2018 in the run-up to the midterm elections. It is not a one-day march—it is a series of local activities, events, and actions organized by many different groups.
Our shared goal is to ensure that science is front-and-center in the decision-making processes that affect us all—and to fight back against efforts that sideline science from its crucial role in our democracy.

Yasuni Man – Screening and Panel Discussion
June 14 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm
YASUNI MAN tells the story of a conflict raging deep within the Ecuadorian Amazon. It’s a real-life Avatar story as the Waorani people battle industry operatives and their own government in a fight to survive. Witness what may be lost as oil companies encroach, human rights violations run rampant, and a forest Eden is destroyed – all for the oil that lies beneath Yasuni.
Please join us at the Harmony Gold Theater in Hollywood for an inspiring night of film and discussion. Following the movie screening we will be hosting a panel discussion with movement leaders on the impacts of oil drilling on rainforest biodiversity and indigenous peoples, as well as its connection to fossil-fuel-polluted communities and climate chaos in California and beyond.
California’s oil policy matters for the Amazon. Nearly 70% of Ecuador’s crude is exported to California refineries. The Trump administration is dismantling the EPA and expanding offshore drilling in the Pacific Ocean. Join us on June 14th to tell Governor Jerry Brown it’s his last chance to plan for a managed decline of fossil fuel production!
From California to the Amazon, #EndAmazonCrude and #KeepItInTheGround!
This event will also be live streamed on Facebook and KNEKT.tv
