Science Rising is a nationwide mobilization effort taking place throughout 2018 in the run-up to the midterm elections. It is not a one-day march—it is a series of local activities, events, and actions organized by many different groups.

Our shared goal is to ensure that science is front-and-center in the decision-making processes that affect us all—and to fight back against efforts that sideline science from its crucial role in our democracy.

Online Training: How to Organize an Event that Makes an Impact

May 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

You’ve marched, you’ve tweeted at your members of Congress, maybe you’ve even written a public comment in defense of science. But how do you get your neighbors and colleagues involved in your science advocacy to make a bigger impact?

The Union of Concerned Scientists invites you to an online training designed to help you organize a successful event and take your advocacy skills to the next level. The more people stand up for science, the more likely it is that our elected officials will be forced to take action.

With the 2018 mid-term elections coming up, and with Congress working towards votes on key issues and nominees that could threaten science-based policies, now is a critical moment to stand up for science.

Get the inside scoop on how to:

• organize a successful event that gets the attention of your elected officials;
• assess what type of event will have the most impact on federal or local science-based policies;
• recruit people for your event; and
• ensure that participants feel inspired and eager to stay involved.

Now more than ever, we need to take collective action to stand up for science.
