Science Rising is a nationwide mobilization effort taking place throughout 2018 in the run-up to the midterm elections. It is not a one-day march—it is a series of local activities, events, and actions organized by many different groups.

Our shared goal is to ensure that science is front-and-center in the decision-making processes that affect us all—and to fight back against efforts that sideline science from its crucial role in our democracy.

Each month, an expert scientist will join facilitator Cari Lewis-Tsinovoi to talk about a popular science-themed book and enjoy adult beverages brewed by our friends at Centerpoint Brewing. This month’s book and discussion: Book: “The End of Plenty: The Race to Feed a Crowded World” by Joel K. Bourne Guest: Professor Steve Hallet, Professor of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Purdue University. This discussion is made possible through a special collaboration with the Union of Concerned Scientists and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry.
